The clinic in Haiti treats about 900 patients a month and is all Haitian run- 3 Haitian doctors and all Haitian nurses and administrative staff. The clinic treats a wide variety of preventable diseases. It is near the best hospital in Haiti but it is overrun with the huge demand for doctors. The hospital staff has asked GVCM’s clinic to stay open and increase its capacity because they are needed to see patients who need surgeries and have large issues, but need the clinic to be available to treat all of the easily treated issues that Haitians have every day; contracting parasites, asthma because of the dirt roads, and the like. The clinic’s pharmacy is one of the best stocked pharmacies in the area and they are equipped to run several of the most common tests for labs. The clinic is able to pay for half of expenses and staff salaries because of the minimal fee they charge patients to be seen. This fee is not high- about 2 dollars, but it is enough to cause the patients to care about their treatments and buy in to their solution because of their contribution. The other half of the cost of the clinic comes from donors in the States. Much of the medicine in the pharmacy has to be bought from the Dominican Republic or flown in from the US which can be very expensive.

I am endeavoring to raise $10,000 for the clinic to help buy additional medicine that can help save Haitians lives from preventable diseases. I am asking you to join me in donating to this very worthy cause so that even when traveling to Haiti and helping in person is impossible, making sure a Haitian run clinic continues to keep its doors open is a significant assistance.
